Desperate Prayer
When do you really pray? When do you pour out your heart to the Lord? There should be some time when you really get “in the Spirit”-especially close to Jesus. It’s very important; it’s good for your soul and your spiritual condition to pour out your heart to the Lord in prayer.
There are times when you ought to really get down to business with God! There must be times when you call upon the Lord with a whole heart. That’s when He will answer (Jeremiah 29:13).
All of our little daily prayers are well and good. I’m sure the Lord hears them and knows they’re sincere, and He answers accordingly. But there are times when you should get desperate with the Lord in prayer about certain situations and people that need your prayers.
Sometimes the Lord has to allow troubles or problems to happen in order to get us serious with Him, so we’ll fervently pray. He wants us to be happy and we usually are, but there should also be times when we are not satisfied with the usual run of things, when we desperately seek the Lord for a needed change and pour out our hearts to Him. When was the last time you did that? Do you ever pray like that?
There should be times when we are not satisfied with the usual run of things, when we desperately seek the Lord for a needed change and pour out our hearts to Him.
When do you get concerned and really pray in the Spirit about your children or other family members, your friends, and your associates? The prophet Isaiah said, “There is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You” (Isaiah 64:7). If we’re not stirred up when we pray, I wonder sometimes how far our prayers get.
The Lord encourages us, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). I know our little prayers are sincere, but there are times when we also need to get desperate in prayer about any serious situations. This is something we all should do and we’d better do! Otherwise God may have to let something happen that will make us get desperate and really pray.
Are you desperate with the Lord? Call upon Him with your whole heart and He will surely answer. He has promised to!
